Randi and several of her Girl Scout sisters spent the day at the Sequin Outdoor Learning Center. The day started with the "low ropes" Randi was not too sure about them and was very tentative at first, but with continued success, her confidence built, and she eventually made it all the way across and was very, very proud of her accomplishment!

Next she was off to do Sand Painting like the Indians used to do, and then decorated a bag to take her finished project home in

When they finished, the girls went to the launch pad where they made predictions about how far certain kinds of balls would go with different types of rubber bands. It was interesting to see the results

By this time, it was getting a little warm out, so the girls enjoyed a break on the porch with their awesome troop leader. Ms. Lisa

Randi is becoming quite the budding photographer, always wanting to take pictures with the big camera, and is getting quite good if I do say so myself. Here is a picture she took of me while we were relaxing on the porch and a picture of her taking pictures of the other girls

The last station and highlight of the day was canoeing...however, when Randi saw how tippy the boats were, she immediately decided canoeing was not for her. She complained and protested and I had to do a lot of convincing to finally get her into a boat, and I'm happy to report that her tears turned to joy within minutes and she had a really fun time. She even told me later that canoeing was her favorite part of the day. To me, this is what scouting is all about....facing your fears and learning to do things you didn't think you could do, all in a supportive, encouraging and loving environment. Way to go Randi!

The end of a fun day
