Randi told me several months ago that she wanted to have a Hannah Montana sleepover party for her 6th birthday. My first thought was phew, we avoided Chuckie Cheese again this year! And my second thought was, great, that'll be easy...what could be so hard about having a few girls over for a good old fashioned slumber party? Well that is until Michael decided to get out of dodge and go to Las Vegas for the weekend and left me with 8 crazy girls and one very excited little boy. Actually it all went very well, with a little help from Tutu and friend Janet. The girls had a blast, and so did I. I'm just surprised the neighbors didn't call the police for disturbing the peace for an hour and half while we all jammed out to Hannah. After the girls got their wiggles out, they watched a movie and thankfully they were all sound asleep by 11:00pm... and no one stirred until 6:30am the next morning. Then we had a pancake feast before everyone gathered their stuff that was scattered all over the house and we packed up and headed off to another party at the gym....thank goodness I didn't have to do a thing for this one but sit back and watch the kids have a lot of fun.
The girls each colored a Hannah Montana pillowcase when they first got to the house

Then they had pizza

Peyton stayed for a while to keep Ryan safe from all the girls!

And as soon as I put in a Hannah Montana CD, the girls went wild!

They were so silly

and so creative...

that I don't know who had more fun, them or me! I loved watching them.
Soon Randi realized she needed to look a little more the part and went for a wardrobe change...

Even Ryan got in on the action. I was so impressed when he came out with his own musical instrument and joined the percussion section (notice the magnifying glass he brought along to use as a drumstick!)

Move over Back Street Boys, the Front Stage Girls are here!

The last song is finally over...whew! Take a bow girls.

Time for cake

Finally, 8 little bugs all snug in bed...night night, sweet dreams!

After they were all sound asleep, I stayed in the room for quite a while listening to the stillness of the night and the gentle whisper of their breathing as they all slipped of into dreamland. It was so peaceful and serene. I reflected on how my life used to be so different; how I never imagined that I'd be in a position of being responsible for 8 precious little lives; how I felt like the luckiest person in the world at that moment, and how my heart was full and content. And for some reason it dawned on me that this is now what my life is all about, giggling girls full of curiosity and energy , finding their way in life, building friendships and sharing memories, and I realized how blessed I am to be able to be able to witness it all and even share in some of it's magic! It's funny how our children probably think we just celebrate them on their birthday, but in reality, every year I also quietly celebrate the day my life changed forever and how I couldn't imagine it or want it any other way.

I love this, and you! You are such an inspirational mom. (and I still miss you!)
Okay, tears after reading the end!!! You are so right! Kids' bdays are also such a celebration of being a Mommy!!! And, can you please adopt me? You do the neatest things with your kids! ;)
I am so far away; I miss seeing the children in person, as well as you and Michael, so this is GREAT (next best thing to being there in person). Love you, Judi
