Randi's 5th Birthday Party

Randi chose to have her 5th birthday party at the Bisque Bistro where she and her friends got to paint fun projects. The kids had a good time and the parents were treated to about 5 minutes of intense silence while the kids were intently working on their masterpieces. I can't wait to see how they all turn out.

Part of the birthday package includes this adorable plate.
Each party guest put their fingerprint on the plate and the Bistro turned
it into a work of art that Randi will always have to remember her special day.
(In case you're wondering, I added this picture 2 weeks after
the original post because it had to be fired in the kiln.)

I let Randi pick out her cake this year. I thought we were going to the store to get a Hannah Montana cake and instead we ended up with a Bolt cake. When I asked Randi about it, she said she thought she wanted a Hannah Montana cake until she saw the awesome Bolt cake! Who knew?

Randi's 1st Daisy Scout Meeting

Randi met with her Daisy Scout troup for the first time tonight.
They made a fun craft and then spent some time getting to know one another.
She knows some of the other girls from I-Cento and Kindermoms, and the other girls seem very sweet, so I think its going to be a great group for her to be involved with.

Randi's 1st day of Kindergarten

Randi had her first day of Kindergarten this morning at I-Cento.
This is the same school she went to last year for Pre-K 4. Since she misses the cut off date for public Kindergarten in Texas by a week, we decided to enroll her in Kindergarten at her private school this year and then have her repeat Kindergarten again next year when she's eligible to go to public school. We've explained all this to her and told her that this is her practice Kindergarten year. I'm not sure if she fully gets it, but I do know she is very, very excited about starting Kindergarten regardless of what the plan is!

A girl sure needs a lot of stuff for school!

Almost there!

She had a wonderful first day, but the first words out of her mouth
when I picked her up this afternoon were "Mama, I'm tired!"

Ryan starts Pre-K 3

Ryan was able to join the Pre-K 3 class at I-Cento since Randi goes to school there and because he is fully potty trained....Yeah! He was excited to start going to I-Cento because they don't have to nap there, but after 5 minutes in his class this morning, he told me he was ready to go to Randi's class. I don't think he quite got the fact that even though he was at the same school as her, he had to go to a separate class. He was not happy at all when I left him, but his teacher said he only cried for a short time and then had a good time the rest of the day. He was in a great mood when I picked him up, but boy about 5:00pm this afternoon, the excitement of his first day and no nap sure caught up with him, and he was a bear! A nap after school might be in order on Thursday!

Look, here's my name!

There are 7 kids total, 2 boys & 5 girls.

Day before Kindergarten lunch

Michael and I took Randi out for a special "Day Before Kindergarten Lunch" all by herself. We talked about her school, her new teacher, and all the fun things she'd be learning about this year. She is feeling so grown up and really excited for her big day tomorrow!

Randi in the news

Imagine my surprise when I opened the Sunday paper this morning and saw this article on page 9A
http://herald-zeitung.com/pictopia.lasso?view=photo&ewcd=3ea7f7b9d62b5bc9
We attended a Girl Scout rally on Saturday and signed Randi up for Daisy Scouts. While we were there, a local newspaper reported was taking pictures for an article about the rally. She took several pictures of Randi but I never imagined she'd use one for her article! I guess that's one of the perks of living in a small town!
