We closed escrow on my Mom's house today; it is very bittersweet. I'm glad on the one hand and sad on the other for all the obvious reasons. We got the last things out of the house yesterday, and I cried when I took one last walk around. I could feel my Mom everywhere, yet I also knew it was time to move on and let new memories be made there. The young couple buying the house is very nice; the girl reminds me so much of my Mom....I think that is one of the reasons I wanted so badly for them to buy it and what makes it easier for me to turn it over to them. I hope they are as happy there as she was.
Randi made this sign and taped it to the patio door about a year ago. My Mom adored it, and I know it made her proud. She never took it down, and it was the last thing I took out of the house before closing the door one last time...

My heart hurts for you, my friend. Glad that her house will be in good hands.
You've had a tough job getting the house ready. I'm glad you've found some comfort in turning over the house to someone that reminds you of your mom. Hugs. I'm glad you have today's photo (and earlier ones) to remind you of all the wonderful details the house held.
This is a tender post, and brings back memories to me of similar happenings. You have been one busy gal getting this house ready to sell, moving out of your home and moving into another....thanks for posting such meaningful photos like this one, and for letting us blog friends get acquainted with the special person you are.
kristin, I forgot about your question about WB. I think the best I have gotten is with the grey card...taught in CM's ROC 101
class. Sometimes I am in a hurry and just make the selection in camera...that's pretty sucessful, but AWB is often wrong.
Oh Kristin, this made me tear up. I'm so glad to hear that there is a lovely couple moving into your mother's house that will make new and beautiful memories there just like she did. That sign is so sweet and I love that you kept it up till the very end. Maybe someday another little girl (or boy) will make a sign very similar for their Grandma living in that house. :)
