I haven't been over to Mom's house for quite a while...
I've been avoiding it; it's even been hard to drive by it right now.
But today we needed to move our Christmas boxes back over there
and I wanted to go though the refrigerator and cupboards.
It was oddly comforting and strange at the same time to walk in and be meet by the familiar smell of my mom. I put myself to work and tried not to think about things too much, and I did OK most of the time. However, when the kids asked me to read the Princess book that Mom always used to sit on the couch and read to them, I was overwhelmed and couldn't quite do it.
Michael stepped in, and I stepped out for a little bit to get myself back together. Tears are a funny thing...at first they make me sad and then they help make me feel better.
