90/365 - Frisbee

I love Spring. I love how everything is so colorful. I love that it stays light longer. I love that we can play outside after dinner. And I love that the kids can run around barefoot in shorts and a t-shirt.

Robert came over to play this afternoon and gave Ryan some tips on how to throw his frisbee.

ISO 2500, f/2.8, ss 1/640, 57 mm.

I figured I'd take advantage of the situation and shoot some action shots since I feel I still struggle in that area. It was getting dusky so I had to really crank up my ISO, and looking back now, I wonder if I shouldn't have raised it higher so I could increase my f stop? I feel like my action shots are ok, but I really want them to be crisp and sharp. Any suggestions on what could I do to make them better?

I love these action shots and do not know of anything to do different. Your color is always so pretty too.

It looks all in focus to me. I can't think of anything to do differently either. I can't wait until our warmth comes back!

I looked at your settings before I read on and thought the same thing...why did she have her ISO so high. But I think it all looks good. In action shots like this I think it is nice to have some blur on the part that is doing the action...his arms. He is in focus and I like this! If you didn't want any blur, I think I would have lowered the ISO...first set the f stop where you would like that and then the shutter speed and then set the ISO. That is usually my recipe. I am not sure if that is what others would recommend. ;) Great series!

I like them (am clueless at the moment as to how to help). I love progression shots :-)

Love his concentration. I think they look pretty good. What lens did you use?

Love the intensity on his face. Great action shots.

I think that even though you were at 1/640, the blur you see is due to needing a faster shutter speed. He must have been moving quickly :) If you look at the last image, his right hand and foot are on approximately the same plane (in relation to the camera) and the foot is sharp, while the hand is blurry. If the issue had been your aperture the foot should have been blurry as well. I think I would have bumped the ISO up just a bit more so that you could have used a faster shutter speed. When I stopped the motion on the jump the other day I think I was somewhere around 1/2000. Kiddos move fast!! :)
