220/365 - My Sub-Junior Handler

Not to be outdone by her brother, Randi had a good dog show weekend as well. She's 6 years old now, so she moved out of the Pee Wee division and into the Sub-Junior division for the first time this weekend. I rarely train with her at home because being the "Mom" it's hard for me to teach her anything about showing, so I was quite impressed with how well she is just picking things up. She is definitely more graceful and poised in the ring this year than she was last year, and she does such a good job of moving smoothly and at just the right speed for the dog she is showing. She enjoyed going in the Sub-Jr ring with cousin Kylie and was thrilled to be able to show Cha Cha once again (since this was the first time she's seen Cha Cha since she went to live with Kathy in Houston about 6 weeks ago). Randi also showed Teva in Altered Best of Breed and won Best Opposite (best spayed girl dog of the show) at both the morning and afternoon shows. She did a beautiful job of presenting her, and I got a little sentimental as I watched both my girls float around the ring together. Teva and Piper are starting to show their age a little, but they held up great this weekend and I'm so thankful to have such sweet dogs that take such good care of my kids at home and in the show ring!

Both of your girls are gorgeous! I need to catch up. My 365 friends are way too fast for me to keep up. I love all of your posts, but I'm not on the computer much these days to keep up. :(

I've never got in the ring myself, BUT...another thing we have in common. Growing up we bred and showed dogs. We raised Sealyham Terriers. I remember spending many weekends at dog shows. And at the groomers. Fun memories. I'll have to go through my parents old photos to see if I can find any.

Your "girls" are beautiful! Seeing these pictures of Randi handling the dog, brings back memories of myself when I was doing this. I believe I told you that my parents had a kennel and raised American Cocker Spaniels for show. I have wonderful moemories of those days. I have since learned that cockers are not the brightest dogs. We had a Shetland Sheepdog who was almost human, and my little Dachshunds are smart too. I couldn't go on living without my dogs.
