Texas is on fire! We're safe with no flames close to us, but Michael's Mom had to evacuate last night and came to stay with us because a huge fire is within 5 miles of her house. We've had the news on this afternoon watching for updates, and it inspired Ryan to compose his own, somewhat eerie song called "Fire Music".

Years ago a photography instructor taught me a wonderful lesson; he said after taking a picture like I think I should take it, take it again from another perspective. His message came to mind this afternoon when I was taking pictures of Ryan in this wonderful light. I was in a tight area with the 50mm on, so I didn't have a lot of options, and I'd changed the camera to Monochrome a few shots before, but I like this second shot too.

Glad you are safe and hope Michael's mom's house is okay. I like both of these :-)
Good, I'm glad that those fires haven't traveled your way. Heard Bastrop is getting it badly...and even in S.A. too. Can't believe it! Wish I could send you guys some of our rain!! I love these shots and am so glad you remembered your previous lessons. They really paid off here. And way to go, Ryan, for composing his own song!!
I'm telling you...I'm starting to believe! Growing up on the east coast, hurricanes were normal. But...tornadoes and earthquakes now? And all these crazy fires? Something is definitely not right.
So glad you are ok. I hope Michael's mom's house is safe too. How scary! If it gets too bad, hop in your car and head east. We'll be here to catch you.
Oh...and I did those school pix in PSE. I am also a total computer dummy when it comes to PS, but doing these types of things is pretty simple and basic. Trust me.
Hi Kristin...I'm so relieved that you are safe from the fires. These photos of Ryan are just beautiful. Very creative angles and use of light. I also like this one of Randi. Is Teddy all tucked in at home tonight?
Glad to hear you are safe. Hope your MIL's house is ok. How scary!
Glad to hear it's not been so bad for you and family. (Another CMer had to evacuate her house for several days!). I absolutely LOVE that first photo of Ryan. The light makes this photo! Yay!
So glad you are safe from the fires! I was thinking how crazy it is that Texas could use some rain and areas on the East Coast are getting way too much.
These are both great photos but I absolutely love the first one!
Glad to hear you are safe! Absolutely LOVE the light in each image!
I'm so glad ya'll are safe. The way the light is falling in the first image is beautiful!
