183/365 - Over the Hump & Baking Too!

I'm officially half way through the year! Woo Hoo! I'll admit it's been challenging at times (to keep up and to stay fresh and motivated), but reading comments about my growth as a photographer and the many fun friends I've made along the way have made it all worth while to me. I've learned so much about my camera and about post processing, I've been able to distract my mind from thoughts that are sometimes too hard to bear, and I've documented so many wonderful memories of our life this year. I often find myself thinking about next year. Will I do it again? It takes so much time; I haven't watched a TV show or read a book in months! But, on the other hand, when I print this project into a book at the end of the year, I'll have something to be truly proud of. Thank you for following along with my journey; your comments and support are a ray of sunshine in my life and have kept me going at times I didn't want to or think I could. And to all of my fellow 365 friends, congrats to you as well for a job well done. It's been my pleasure to watch you grow as well and share in your many wonderful moments and memories, and here's to another amazing 182 more days!

My Mom bought Randi a Hannah Montana cookbook at the Scholastic Book Fair last year. Mom spent a couple of hours there with Randi that day, having lunch and reading books. Mom even got an award (a bouquet of flowers) for traveling the longest distance to attend since she'd just gotten back from Arizona that same morning just so she wouldn't miss the event. Randi would pick out what she wanted to make, Mom would get all the ingredients at the store, and they'd make the recipe together over at her house when Randi would spend time with her while Ryan was napping. Today the kids wanted to make a recipe for pudding pops that Randi had already made with Tutu. It was bittersweet to make them again without her, but I did feel her presence with us as we stirred and licked chocolate batter off the wisk and the spoons and the bowl too...

This is just the cutest collage! I feel the same way about my mom. When I make something that she did so well, It's like she is there looking over my shoulder. She always made steamed pudding for my birthday instead of cake. I have missed it. I may have to make some. The first christmas she was gone, as I was stirring (her) fudge, I saw a resemblance to her hands when I looked at my own, and realized part of her is in me. Always with me.

Just love seeing the teamwork between the two! Glad you were able to capture this activity that has special meaning now, more than ever!

PS Natalie asked me yesterday about visiting Randi's house again so she could play with her and her Princess tent!
