* The light was beautiful.
* Randi wanted me to take her picture.
* She eagerly got dressed in a new outfit and let me put her hair in a pretty headband.
* The Bluebonnet patch we saw the other day was blooming nicely.
* Everything was perfect....
until I took one test picture to check my settings and my battery ran out.
* Thank goodness I found an extra battery in my bag.
* I was in luck...
until I put it in the camera and realized that battery was dead too.

So while Randi only let me take two pictures of her yesterday, I only got one chance at this photo. Thank goodness I had my setting pretty good for the test shot. And even though it's not what I planned on taking, there's something about it that I like, and after my battery fiasco, I'm happy to have it!
Note to self: always check your battery before going out on a photo shoot!
I'm judging a dog show in Michigan this weekend and won't be home until Sunday night, so if I disappear for a few days, you'll know why. I'm not taking my camera with me and am starting to have withdrawls at the thought of not having access to the big camera for a day and a half; it kind of feels like I'm leaving one of my limbs at home! However, I am taking Randi's p/s with me, so let's see how creative I can get with it. Wish me luck; I just might need it!

You and me had a similar day--only I'd forgotten the memory card! Luckily I had one in a bag I'd left in the car (which was parked a block away) but it was a close call! Note to self, here, too! At least you have this shot--lovely!
Oh man! Some days are like that!! At least you got a couple fired off :D
Oh man! How frustrating. I love how she coordinates amongst the bluebonnets :)
Have fun at the dog show!
I have done that before. So frustrating. Adorable picture though!
Well, no one would ever know to look at this, that you hadn't shot dozens of pictures till you got the perfect one! It's great...very natural too. I understand it is not what you had in mind... I have that happen all the time where I have the perfect shot in mind, and it hardly ever turns out like I wanted. Have a good time at the dog show!! WOW...I didn't know you are a judge. That must be hard.
Oh good luck with the judging! It is a really pretty shot and the story behind it will be remembered I am sure. I went to shoot things yesterday and had the same issue luckily I was at home though and could just wait 20mins for the battery to charge enough :-)
I've done that with the battery. Still, I like this...ones where they are 'natural'. Good luck with the dog show.
Aww, sorry about the battery :-( This is a great shot though. Guess you only needed one anyway. Have fun in MI (that's where I'm from :-))!
Wow, luck of the draw...you captured a fantasic picture!
I too, have had this happen. I need to get a back-up battery yet.
Well, despite the ups and downs of this shot, I love it too!! It's just so fresh, fun and lovely. Makes me want to sit down on the ground, smell the earth and take in all that gorgeousness around it!! Good luck at the dog show!!!!!! So exciting!
i can't tell you how many times the battery ran out on me. i should really get a back up battery like you. ;) love the shot!!
This did turn out really beautiful!
I hope the judging went well! You were so close to me this weekend! I agree how crazy it is that one day you are in warm weather and then you fly a few hours and you are stuck in snow ;) THis is a great shot! And how great that you had your settings to get this great shot! Very sweet.
Sweet, perfect for Easter week.
This turned out lovely for only two shots! I'm notorious for not charging my battery and leaving my memory card at home. I swear I used to have a brain! :)
Just for the chance to catch a glimpse among the Bluebonnets of that beautiful princess of ours is worth several dead batteries...good job on getting it right quick!...Kisses to her.
bummer about the battery! but you're right, at least you have this one.
