50/365 - When they're gone

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

Today's assignment was to capture the feeling in our home when "they're gone". I was going to take a picture of a empty house, but as much as I enjoy the quiet when everyone is gone, I miss their presence and energy and laughter, so I wasn't inspired to take it... and then I saw this. To me, it's where my parents are now that they are gone.

We went to see Train last week at the rodeo. It was an amazing concert but I must admit, this song tore me apart, and as I look at this photo, these lyrics keep going through my head...

"When it rains it pours and opens doors
That flood the floors we thought would always
Keep us safe and dry
And in the midst of sailing ships
We sink our lips into the ones we love
That have to say goodbye

And as I float along this ocean
I can feel you like a notion that won't seem to let me go

Cause when I look to the sky
Something tells me you're here with me
And you make everything alright
And when I feel like I'm lost
Something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

Whether I am up or down or in or out
Or just plane overhead
Instead it just feels like it is impossible To fly
But with you I can spread my wings
to see me over everything
That life may send me when I am hoping it won't pass me by

And when I feel like there is no one
That will ever know me
There you are to show me

When I look to the sky
Something tells me you're here with me
And you make everything alright
And when I feel like I'm lost
Something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

When I look to the sky
Something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here
And when I feel like I'm lost
Something tells me you're here with me
And I can always find my way when you are here

HUGS! I'm not sure I put 2 and 2 together the last time to realize that you have lost your dad too. Not sure if you realize that I lost my dad last February. Our lives are eerily similar. Maybe we should have been sisters.

kristin~ i wanted to tell you this the other day at your house, but stalled...about to leave & wasn't strong enough for a big cry. so, now i'm remembering from your post...train's most popular song ever "drops of jupiter" (and the one that made them famous) is actually about the passing of his mother. copy/paste this link to see the explanation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHor4VN8090
david & i happened to watch this interview on VH1, and it's amazing!

Powerful post. I love your creativity with the prompt. I'm so sorry for you loss, I can't imagine how hard it can be at times but knowing they're someone where beautiful can hopefully help the pain. :) I'm obsessed with Train, they're my favorite band. Lucky you for going to their concert. I'd love to see them live sometime. :)
